Lichtsteiner speaks on Arsenal transfer for the first time

Stephan Lichtsteiner has been forced into speaking on his expected move to the Emirates stadium as rumours continue to suggest that he is closing in on an Arsenal switch.

The Gunners are believed to be in search of new defensive additions after finishing last season as the side who conceded the most the goals out of all the teams in the Premier League’s top six.

Unai Emery’s arrival as Arsene Wenger’s replacement means there will be a number of significant changes made to the squad.

Thus, Swiss defender Stephan Lichtsteiner has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates stadium this summer.

Rumours have claimed that the 34-year-old finishing up a free transfer move to Arsenal ahead of the start of the Works Cup.

When questioned about the transfer by the media for the first time, Lichtsteiner remained coy on the subject, despite sending out a slight hint that a deal is on the cards.

“I cannot say anything about that [moving to Arsenal]. Nothing is finalised. Will it be done before the World Cup? I don’t know.” he said
