Look who’s back!: Abou Diaby scores for reserves against Liverpool
Abou Diaby was the star of the show with a goal just a couple of hours ago as the Arsenal Reserves stretched their unbeaten run to six games with a 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
The French midfielder was featuring for the club’s second string side in order to regain his match fitness after a season which has been severely plagued by injuries.
Diaby actually made a return from injury against this same Liverpool side earlier this month, before limping off with a hamstring problem as the Gunners won 2-1 against the reds’ senior team at Anfield.

That day, the 25-year-old briefly caught the eye with a fine turn and shot only seconds after being introduced, but Diaby managed to find the net today with a close-range effort against Liverpool’s youngsters after Oguzhan Ozyakup had set him up.
The goal secured a point for the Gunners’ reserves after 50 minutes of action before Diaby himself completed his short performance by sitting out the rest of the match after 61 minutes.
That appeared to be the plan after Wenger had confirmed prior to the match that Diaby would be working on his fitness ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Everton.
“Diaby is back but he is with the reserves at Liverpool. He will play for an hour” Wenger said.
Below is a compilation of Diaby’s cameo at Anfield at the start of this month – his last appearance for the first team to date.
Enjoy!
