Lucas Perez: Where I actually want to play
Arsenal’s new signing has confirmed which position he prefers to be played following various reviews from fans and pundits.
The former Deportivo La Coruna man has only made two starts so far this season, scoring his first two goals for the club in the 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in September.
Ex-Arsenal star Ian Wright suggested that Perez was best suited to the role of a winger instead of a being deployed up front after watching the Spaniard’s display on his Arsenal debut against Southampton.
However, the 28-year-old, who produced two assists from the flanks for Mesut Ozil in the 6-0 victory over Ludogorets, insists he is capable of playing as a striker.
“Where I enjoy the most is up front because it’s where I’ve been playing in recent times but I can adapt to any position in the attack. I am here for every time the manager needs me,” Perez told IB Times.
Perez has also acknowledged the fact that he might not enjoy as much playing time at the Emirates stadium as he did in La Liga.
“When you arrive at a new club it’s obvious that you have the enthusiasm and the desire to prove your worth. But this is Arsenal and there is much competition, those who are playing are doing well.” he added
“We have had seven wins in a row so it is normal that the master is trusting in the same players. The most important thing is to be ready to do my best when I have the chance.”
