Arsene Wenger has been handed a very important boost on the fitness front ahead of the upcoming clash with Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the Europa League.
The Gunners have struggled for much of this season but there is still hope of winning a piece of silverware after booking a place in the semi-finals of the Europa League.
Success in the competition would be more than a fitting end to the season, especially after Arsene Wenger’s announcement on Friday that he would no longer be in charge of the team beyond this year.
Even so, injuries to key players at a vital stage of the campaign have threatened to derail the Gunners’ hopes of glory and one player who was spending time on the sidelines was Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The 29-year-old suffered a serious knee injury during the 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow a couple of weeks ago with several reports suggesting that he would be out for the remainder of the season.
However, Mkhitaryan, who suffered a medial ligament damage, has made a surprisingly early return from injury ahead of the clash with Atletico.
