The Gunners may be in a fairly comfortable position in the Europa League but their horrible domestic form means nothing short of an emphatic display is what the fans will demand on Wednesday.

Unai Emery’s side has been struggling in the Premier League and they remain without a win  since the 1-0 victory over Bournemouth which came before the last international break.

Should the Gunners continue to fall behind in the race for a top four finish, they will have to seriously prioritize the Europa League, a competition they came close to winning last term.

Thus, Emery might look to name a strong team on Wednesday even if he chooses to rest a few star players ahead of the weekend.

Last week’s poor defensive display at Anfield means players like Emi Martinez, Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding cannot all start together in the back five once again.

Perhaps, this is the chance for forgotten fringe players like Mavropanos and Matt Macey to also show what they have.
