Arsenal are closing in on more signings as Unai Emery looks to bring in as many new faces as possible to strengthen what many perceive to be a below-par squad.
The new Gunners boss appears to be moving very swiftly to secure his main transfer targets, well before the pre-season tour which will begin next month, after the World Cup.
Various reports this week have claimed that the Gunners have been working on a deal to sign Lucas Torreira as early as possible.
Indeed, according to Football Italia, Arsenal are looking to rush a medical for the 22-year-old before he begins duty with Uruguay at the World Cup.
There have been several reports suggesting that the Gunners have agreed a deal worth around £26.4 million for Torreira, who is being tipped to improve Arsenal’s defensive midfield department significantly.
In addition to the latest claims of a medical being expected to be scheduled, we reported earlier on Wednesday that Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Sampdoria and Arsenal had reached an agreement.
Here was his tweet again….
