Mesut Ozil delivered some good news on his fitness on Thursday, ahead of the opening game of the season against Leicester City.
The 28-year-old was involved in most of Arsenal’s preseason fixtures before last Sunday’s clash with Chelsea at Wembley stadium.
Ozil was excluded from the Gunners squad which managed to win the Community Shield after suffering an ankle injury.
The Germany international was replaced in the starting line-up by Alex Iwobi who produced a decent performance against Antonio Conte’s side.
But Ozil’s spell on the sidelines has proven to be very brief – to the delight of Arsene Wenger – after the midfielder resumed training at London Colney on Thursday.
Arsenal’s no. 11 has taken to Twitter to confirm to the fans that he is now back in action after being forced to sit out last weekend’s game.
The return of Ozil will be a major boost for Wenger who will have tedious Europa League fixtures to deal with this season.
