Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil had a message of gratitude for the fans after playing in what was a landmark game in his career with the Gunners on Sunday.

The former Germany international has now been at the club for almost seven years, making him one of the longest serving players in the current squad.

Ozil has divided opinion over the course of his career as a Gunner, but he remains a regular in the team and on Sunday, Mikel Arteta handed him another start in the clash with Burnley.

The match happened to be the midfielder’s 250th game in an Arsenal shirt after his move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013, which made him the club’s most expensive player at the time.

Even though Ozil did not necessarily have an afternoon to remember as the Gunners drew 0-0 with Burnley, the German still had a grateful message for the fans after the game to mark the occasion.

Arsenal’s chief playmaker added that he will ‘never regret’ his decision to leave Madrid for the club.
