Michael Owen has questioned the character of Arsene Wenger’s side after the performance which saw them suffer a surprise defeat at Everton this week.
The Gunners saw their 14-game unbeaten run in the Premier League brought to an end at Goodison Park against an opposition which few expected them to lose against.
Arsenal’s disappointing result against Ronald Koeman’s side has seen more critics continue to play down their chances of sustaining a title push for the entire season.
And Owen, who is known for being very outspoken about the Gunners in the past, insists Wenger’s men lack the fight it takes to succeed.
“When he [Wenger] says they ‘fought really hard’, they fought really hard from Arsenal’s point of view. That’s a passing type of fighting hard, running around a bit.” Owen was quoted as saying on BT Sport
“But when you are talking about physically fighting, they are just not designed for that. They are not a team that plays or trains that way.
“They need to pass a team off the park and when any team gets really physical against them, they find it harder.”
