Arsenal appear to be on the verge of landing their first signing of the 2020 summer transfer window according to journalist Jack Rosser.

The Gunners have been in need of another winger despite the arrival of Nicolas Pepe from Ligue 1 during last summer.

Thus, Mikel Arteta’s side have been strongly linked with a deal to sign Willian, who made it clear on Sunday that he would be leaving Chelsea after almost a decade at Stamford Bridge.

A day after writing the letter which announced his Chelsea exit, the Brazilian is now closing in on a move to north London.

According to Standard Sport journalist Jack Rosser, Willian has completed his medical ahead of the Arsenal switch.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The signing of Willian is a shrewd move by Mikel Arteta but it should only come as a supplemental deal since a couple more additions are probably needed for this team to compete for major honours next season.

Should the Arsenal boss add at least two more quality players in other positions to this signing, then the recruitment of Willian, who has come at a fairly cheap cost, has to be seen as a solid decision.
