Former Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre has made a positive prediction about what the future has in store for the Gunners’ signing William Saliba, who is set to finally feature for the club he joined last summer.

With Arsenal struggling to defend well for much of the 2018/19 season, then-Arsenal boss Unai Emery managed to secure the signing of William Saliba in a fairly expensive deal for the youngster last summer.

Despite spending all of that money on the young defender, the Gunners opted to keep Saliba on loan in France for another year as he works on gaining more experience.

The teenager has been troubled by injuries on some occasions this season but when he has been in action, his performances have certainly been promising to watch.

With Saliba set to return to his parent club ahead of next season, most Arsenal fans will be looking forward to seeing the gifted centre-back feature in the Premier League.

And according to former Gunner Mikael Silvestre, Saliba is a player who definitely has a bright future ahead of him.

“William Saliba will start from the get-go when he joins Arsenal next season.” Silvestre said, as quoted by Metro

“He’s currently playing for a struggling Saint-Etienne side, but his performances have been good and he’s been consistent. Defensively he’s strong, so he’ll be looking to impress in pre-season.

“He’ll need to adapt in that period, but he has enough time to learn from the Arsenal staff and players. He’s still very young but has great experience from his time in Ligue 1.

“He’ll continue to learn from the current centre-backs but he’ll have a big part to play from day one.”
