Reports that Arsenal have made a bid of £15M for Phil Jagielka are untrue.

According to Everton boss David Moyes, the Gunners have not renewed their pursuit of the defender – contrary to claims by tabloids.

The Merseyside club did reject a bid from Arsenal for Jagielka a couple of seasons ago and another one earlier this summer. But with only days left in the transfer window, Arsene Wenger may have to make a third desperate move.

In the wake of Gael Clichy’s departure, Arsenal have been linked to another Evertonian in left-back Leighton Baines, but, ahead of his side’s Carling Cup clash with Jagieka’s former club Sheffield United, Moyes denied the Gunners had made an approach for any of his highly-valued men.

“As of now we have received no inquiry from Arsenal for Jagielka or any other player at the club” Moyes said

Jagielka, 28, joined Everton in 2007 for £4m and has since won eight caps for England.

Meanwhile Arsene Wenger is reportedly eager to find a new club for the out-of-favour Sebastien Squillaci in order to fill his gap in the squad with a new acquisition.
