Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has expressed his thoughts on Arsenal’s deal to sign Alexandre Lacazette.
Following a transfer saga which began at this time last year, the Gunners have finally secured the acquisition of the French striker.
Lacazette’s move to the Emirates stadium comes on the back of a magnificent season which saw him score 37 goals in all competitions for Lyon.
And according to Nicholas, Arsene Wenger has certainly made the right decision by bringing in the 26-year-old.
“He is at a prime age now to look to hit the ground running at Arsenal,” Nicholas said. “They should have tried to get him three years ago.
“Arsenal needed a guy who’s intelligent, his movement is good, he’s got good speed and he doesn’t always have to go and be an old-fashioned number nine.
“He will want to try and improve on his own reputation. I really do think he is a perfect fit.”
“Arsene [Wenger] gets a lot of stick for a number of things – some are deserved and some in my opinion are undeserved,” he added
“He has spent the money but it’s not always been in the areas that has made it [the team] significantly better.”
