Gunners bench Arsene Wenger

According to reports, there have been no negotiations between Real Madrid and Arsenal for Karim Benzema.

During a press-conference today, new Madrid manager Rafa Benitez confirmed that the 27-year-old striker will not be sold.

“I think Benzema is going to stay with us. I’m very happy with him.” the Spaniard said

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has sanctioned the deal for Chuba Akpom to become the club’s second youngster to be loaned out to Hull City this summer after Isaac Hayden.

The teenager, who has spent loan spells with Brentford, Coventry City and Nottingham Forest in the past, could make his Hull debut in their Championship opener against Huddersfield on Saturday.

Despite his bright displays in pre-season which included a hat-trick against the Singapore XI, Arsene Wenger has ordered for Akpom to continue his development elsewhere for now.

The 19-year-old’s departure means that Arsenal’s options of a centre-forward have been narrowed down to Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and possibly Theo Walcott.
