Or maybe Arteta has not spent the money wisely?

Mikel Arteta may be perceived by some to be unwilling to spend or reluctant to purchase what is needed in the transfer market. But according to his own words, the Arsenal boss appears to be making a push behind the scenes to convince the club to buy when necessary.
This might be a matter of quality than a matter of effort.
Apart from last summer’s expenses, the £65m and more than £100m splashed on the likes of Kai Havertz and Declan Rice the year before, shows there is money and the willingness to spend from the men above.
However, what Arteta should take responsibility for, is the profile and quality of players being recruited.
Frankly, there have been more misses than hits when it comes to new faces the Spaniard has brought in over his five-year tenure as manager.
Havertz has been a decent addition but at a time when the team needed an out-and-out/proven goalscorer, was signing an experimental forward who had not really shined at Chelsea the best he could do with £65m?
Buying players should not be seen as the ‘plug and play’ solution to Arsenal’s woes which include the current attacking drought and Bukayo Saka’s injury. Buying the right players, rather, is Arteta’s big test in the transfer market this time, because while some of his signings have been of adequate quality, there are far too many questionable decisions like Fabio Vieira and Raheem Sterling (loan or not).
Nobody has a crystal ball when recruiting players to know exactly how useful a signing will turn out to be, but the ratio of good vs bad results is what matters here.
Clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City have had more good than bad results when recruiting players over the past decade, and their pattern of recruiting mostly players who are good enough – instead of just bringing in numbers – is what Arteta has to emulate this time.
Everybody will get it wrong sometimes in the transfer market, but you simply can’t keep getting it wrong more often than not…especially when the money being spent might break the bank.
since edu left i seems he took with him arsenal winning mentality.i think we need to emulate city that signs good enough players not just signing for the sake of pleasing the fans or for the sake of it
