Ornstein on what Mikel Arteta did on Thursday as Arsenal presentation nears
David Ornstein has provided some detail over how Mikel Arteta’s move to the Emirates stadium is being wrapped up, with the Spaniard expected to be presented to Arsenal fans on Friday.
Arsenal appeared to be slowly moving in the search for a new manager after the exit of Unai Emery in late November, but after last Sunday’s worrying 3-0 loss to Manchester City, a decision has finally been made.
Mikel Arteta, who left the Gunners to join Manchester City after his retirement in 2016, is expected to return to the club as a manager ahead of the trip to Everton.
According to David Ornstein, the 37-year-old gave an ’emotional speech’ to the Manchester City squad and staff members on Thursday as his time at the Etihad stadium came to an end.
Arteta is set to be unveiled by Arsenal as the club’s new manager on Friday, making him the second man to take charge of the Gunners, since Arsene Wenger’s exit in May 2018.
