Arsene Wenger has opened talks over a deal to retain the services of one of his most important first team players.

The likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have been linked with a departure as they continue to delay the decision to renew their contracts.

And another man with only a year remaining on his deal is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who has been rumoured to be considering a move to Liverpool.

However, the Sun are claiming that Arsenal have now opened talks with the 23-year-old over the signing of a new long-term contract.

The report claims that Oxlade-Chamberlain has been offered a new deal which will see him earn around $127,000-a-week (£100,000-a-week) in wages.

Following an erratic couple of years which saw him troubled by injuries, the England international enjoyed his best season in Arsenal colours last term, especially after Wenger’s switch to a new system which saw him feature at right wing-back.
