Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed that his teammate Alex Iwobi started being treated differently in training last year.
The Nigerian youngster has become one of the regular names on Arsene Wenger’s team sheet after breaking into the first team during the second half of the 2015/16 season.
With Alexis Sanchez now leading Arsenal’s front-line, Alex Iwobi has been chosen ahead of several attacking options at the club to fill the role on the left-wing.
And according to Oxlade-Chamberlian, Iwobi went from being occasionally called upon to train with the big boys to working with the senior squad on a consistent basis last term.
“When he started training with us, all the rest of the [reserves] boys started going back over to the youth team, but Alex would stay and stay and stay and the boss could always see that he was going to be the one who could step up.” the Englishman told Arsenal player
“And now you look at the way Alex is playing, with his confidence, and with his ability, it’s great to see and just proves the boss has a certain eye for seeing things that I don’t think other people see.”
