PICTURE: Who would’ve seen this coming from Cesc and Pique
When Barcelona were cruising the world of football, the idea of Pep Guardiola leaving his team in disappointment one day was unthinkable.
But that is now reality as the 41-year-old announced his decision to leave the Catalan club at the end of this campaign on Friday, leaving his once cheerful Barca dressing room almost in tears.
Already troubled by defeats to Real Madrid and Chelsea in La Liga and the Champions League respectively, here was the look on the faces of Pique and Fabregas – who once said Guardiola is his hero – as the Barca boss revealed his decision.
So what impact do you think this dramatic movement at one of the world’s biggest clubs will make on the game?

I like big tits and I cannot lie…randy i know u won’t deny
Bobby. Your command of the English language leaves a lot to be desired.
“winning everything and cheating everything” ha ha ha so true. however, i still don’t understand the resentment a lot of fans have towards cesc. he was always going to go “home” he served us well and i will always look out for his results and performances. he was my fav arsenal player and is still one of my fav players in the world.
he set arsenal back atleast 3yrs by runnin off when he knew wenger was buildin a team around him and didn’t hav the balls to let barca pay his true value!
If I could i would vote this up twice.
Can someone not photoshop a picture of Reina forcing an Arsenal shirt on him and releasing that to the press?
The Biggest pride for a Captain is to be committed to his club and deliver trophies to his team. A player who changes club everytime he is frustrated or when he doesn’t win a trophy, goes nowhere. I believe the quality of sports life is to be committed to your club and not just to move out when it does not go as well as you expected.
-Arsene Wenger
Not a very good article mate
Cess leaving is very different from the likes of Nasri and others. He served us well and was our best player for a few years on the trot! I’d have him back if we had a chance! Always created at least one clear cut chance for his team in ever match
Always remember the good times with cesc….the goals against Spurs, Milan, and the double cameo vs villa…..his reaction to scoring against stoke after Ramsey’s leg breaker!
Jump shipper? not the way I remember him!
I don’t dislike Cesc but it is a crazy irony that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side even if its back home…..
I’m having a good laugh at Fabregas right now. I hope his career takes a nose-dive like other Arsenal ship jumpers before him. Same for Mr Naz(r)i. Those two caused us gooners so much pain and they almost ruined our season.
YOUR’E LAUGHING AT FABREGAS BECAUSE YOU ARE AN IDIOT WITH A SHORT MEMORY.
You are ust an Idiot. How did Cesc jump a ship? He was with AFC for almosy 8years and he left when he felt it was god for him and his Caree. Yes they lost out on the leagus and UCL but he had already won almost 3 trophies in one year. If jumping a ship is what it takes to achieve SUCCESS then I will do the same. You looser!!!
And you are a bloody fool. What do you call a player who signed a very long-term deal and engineered a move away with 4 years still to run. His people even said he was a kidnap victim! Lol
Here comes the Idiot no. 2, talking as if it was cesc that asked for 8years contract. The club presented it and he signed. We all knew he would leave at some point in his career,
so stop bitching. It would have been another trophyless season for him had he stayed.
I think most of Arsenal are really fooled by the so called loyalt of Cesc who in my oponion if it wasn’t for AW he would have gone when started commanding a first team playing time. He left us when he has just reached his mature and prosperous age. And all us gooners are trying to comfort ourselves by saying Cesc was loyal when infact he came to our school because he was not sure he was as good as the likes of Iniesta, Xavi and a certain Messi and he new he wasn’t going to be half the player he is after the AW magic worked well for him then graduated and went back to the so called home. As soon as he realised what our coaches had done to him he become home sick coincidency huh!
I can’t read English well so maybe the writer of this article can’t write english then
Or maybe English is not YOUR first language because you can’t read?
Randy you are a clown mate….we are having a laugh… at you!! Lmao what a tool!!
No it is awful English I’m afraid!
Quote the part of it which has awful English !
he didnt ‘jump ship’ at all
he sulked
he feigned injury
he refused to play
he slid ship in a trail of slime
Hate to be picky but this piece needs a second draft!
and a third and a fourth…and a second thought apparently. poorly thought, amd even more poorly written!
Sorry to nit pick but the headline does read “who would’ve “seem” this coming”..better perhaps to state “seen”.
On balance this is generally a good site. Barca are not my concern and I care little about their departures and defeats.
Thanks mate, that minor error (M instead of N) has been corrected. Hardly enough to brand this article as ‘poor’ though – like those above said. Smells like ‘haters’!
Pep Guardiola is Cesc’s idol. Assuming Pep takes over at Arsenal after his break from football, and Arsene Wenger moves up the hierachy, will Cesc return to Arsenal? Yes or No?
Arsene Wenger’s job @ Arsenal is a life tym career n not a splinter job..
And will Arsene Wenger + Pep Guardiola a good combination at Arsenal?
i am angry he left us but i think we can have him back, ramsey is not exactly setting the world on fire and diaby cannot stay fit. cesc is the player we did not replace.
STUPID ARTICLE. AND YOU ARE A STUPID PERSON
Pls guyz, cool it. Cesc loved arsenal… He wanted to win d champions league wit barca. He might push for a move back
Cesc———-top lad. A stab in the back article????.
Whatever reasons he had (and im not bitter) cesc should have been more attached to arsenal considering his history with us, but considering he wasnt, then its good he left i guess
Again, just as a disclaimer, im not bitter towards cesc, i can understand why he left, i just think considering what an amazing story he was writing with us he should have been more attached to the club
If there was sbody who perfected the art of diving it was the outgoing barca coach .if he was to come to epl then man u is the place to futher his diving degree.
Screw cesc. He singlehandedly ruined Arsenals 2010-11 season with his backheel pass and the 2011-12 season with his demand to leave for barca. I am glad he didnt win anything this season. May Arsenal be the next barca (without the cheating).
Honestly, must respect for Wenger has been deepened with the departure of Pep. Pep did a great job, no doubt- but on the back of heavy spending and an already flying team which only needed to soar. Pep never faced turmoil times during his rein. And with these defeats he runs from the heat. Wenger has made Cesc out of almost nothing, apart from obvious raw talent, survived rougher times at the back of scanty spending. And just when Cesc is ripe with the team built around him and some stability about to take place in the team, he shows the way in stabbing the team ( not to talk of the back heel he gave to Barca to score), running away from responsibilities just like Pep is doing. Though I had a lot of respect and love for Fab (my friends even use nickname me Fabregas), he did the greatest of damage to Arsenal which almost plunged the team with a worst league position. I really hope he realizes that grass is not always greener at the other feet.
lion mese,,,, to man city . sesc fab to arsenal i like it………….
I think we dont need such Article for now. We need to move forward
I still like cesc. However you have to say it appears the grass is not always greener on the other side
Oh Reyes those AFC days of yrs. You left and left me bleeding profuriously. You said London was nt a good place.why did u go to Portugal?
Im sure a party is now going on in a part of Madrid call Santia………eu .
Seriously, is d grass greener at our Emirates then d Nou Camp at d moment? Be a man n admit it is not…yet. Cesc, thanks for d memories! Good luck against other teams except us Arsenal.
Cesc came and done what he had to do then moved on to his next project. That’s life. Players come players leave. Some for the right reasons others just to line their pockets ((ala Na$ri, Adebaywhore). Cesc wanted to go back to Barca cos that’s his hometown club. Sadly the timing was shit for us but it’s down to our club to make sure they squeeze any club trying to get out contracted players on the cheap. The fact Cesc now finds himself in the position of losing his Idol is just tough. But I wish him well and will always be a fan of his. Let’s just hope he don’t end up like Hleb.
M nt rily api wit guardiola’s final decision bt al i knw is dat barca will continue to b d best in d world of football….
Wengers curse strikes again. Hindsight is 20-20 but it turns out Cesc may have left a year or 2 too early. As talented as he is, he wasn’t a very good captain. He lacked the passion of RVP and the maturity of Arteta. He neither inspired his teammates, nor calm their nerves when we were behind by a goal or 2. Instead he’d hang his head, show his frustration, and maybe even give up a little. Given a chance to mature another year or 2 of at Arsenal may actually served him better. But who knows? That’s just a hypothetical. In the meantime I hope things work for Cesc at Barca under new management.
Its unfortunate for the like of Fabregas dat left Arsenal for tropy like champions leagu spanish league cup
Its a pity for the like of Fabregas and host of young plyers coming up under Guardiola. Well, there’s still a room for suxecc @Baca
Cesc i wish all the success in the world ,Barca I hope go into a drop they never recover from . How many players of AFC have they disrupted with there must have will have policy
Cesc knew he didnt have a chance to break into the barca first team.so he came over and learned his trade under arsen, but everyone knew ET will go home one day.So he jumped on the spaceship and went home. Now the honeymoon has ended, what’s next, does he want to come back and claim for his armband?
Wouldn’t you tired of playing with some of the muppets he was playing with. May be we should have brought in Arteta to partner Cesc. Top quality striker for when Van Persie was out.
Has anyone noticed that barca players must be all reading the same fashion mags, they all love their half grown beards almost everyone of them!
What’s up with that? A bit pretty boyish!
