Piers Morgan has taken to social media to react to the club’s controversial decision to name Mikel Arteta as the new manager, following the departure of Unai Emery.
The Gunners have been searching for a new manager since late November, when Unai Emery was told to leave the club after the team’s embarrassing defeat at home to Frankfurt in the Europa League.
Arsenal initially named former winger Freddie Ljungberg as the manager of the tram for the time being but after witnessing no improvement, an actual appointment of a new boss is set to take place.
Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Everton in the Premier League, it is becoming increasingly likely that the Gunners will be choosing ex-player Mikel Arteta as the new manager.
The decision to name the Manchester City assistant coach as Arsenal’s new boss has proven to be a controversial one.
Some have backed the club’s move to appoint the Spaniard but others, like Piers Morgan, have pointed out Arteta’s lack of managerial experience as a concern.
Arsenal have replaced a popular former player with no managerial experience… with a popular former player with no managerial experience. Arteta’s been a great No2 to the best manager in the world – but can he be a great No1?
We’re about to find out.
I wish him luck. pic.twitter.com/BtKXhQ4pEp— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) December 18, 2019
