Piers Morgan took to social media to express his thoughts over what was a roller-coaster show from Danny Welbeck against Southampton on Sunday.

The England international has endured an inconsistent career at the Emirates stadium after being allowed to leave Manchester United during the summer of 2014.

Welbeck has been troubled by injury problems for several seasons but matters have improved for him to an extent so far this year.

The 27-year-old has been involved in more games this term than the past two campaigns, despite facing competition from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

The former United striker was handed a start on Sunday in the clash against Southampton in the Premier League.

Welbeck scored to hand the Gunners the lead in the first half but after the Saints equalised after the break, the Englishman missed the net from close-range, to the surprise of much of the crowd.

However, the striker did manage to atone for that miss by scoring the winning goal a few moments later and Piers Morgan could not help but react subtly…
