Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has responded directly to rumours regarding a possible move to Arsenal following his recent exit from the Premier League.

The Argentine tactician saw his time in north London as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur come to an end recently as he was sacked by the club, only a few months after leading them to the final of the Champions League.

A week after the exit of Pochettino, the Gunners also decided to let go of Unai Emery, who had overseen one of the worst run of results from the Arsenal team in decades.

With the club now in search of a new manager, there has been talk (via The Athletic) about Pochettino being a target to replace Emery at the Emirates stadium.

When asked directly about the possibility of him taking the Arsenal job after being spotted by the media during his vacation, Pochettino smiled before giving his response.

The ex-Spurs boss insists what is ‘important’ now is for him to get some rest before making a decision on where his next job will be.

“It’s important to have a moment of calm to lower the decibels and find the energy to take on a new project, and we’ll see where that is,” he responded to TyC Sports.

The 47-year-old then went on to confirm that he will return to London next week and it is unclear what that trip back to England will be for.

“I’m going to spend a few days here [in Rosario] with my family and friends, and then I’ll return to London next week.”
