Report: Arsenal 2-1 Birmingham City
Arsenal secured a vital three points despite another profligate performance which saw them come back from a goal down to win.
On evidence of West Brom’s upset in their last home game, Wenger’s men knew they could take the visit of Birmingham City lightly at their own peril.
And despite showing more enthusiasm and poise today than they did three weeks ago, Arsenal’s same old lack of killer instinct in attack meant the visitors sucker-punched and took the lead through a header from the towering Zigic.
Marouane Chamakh though, would turn fortunes in Arsenal’s favor at either side of the break. Moments before half-time, the Moroccan earned a penalty-kick for his side which Nasri courageously dispatched to pull the Gunners level.
And within two minutes into the second-half, Chamakh received a pass and danced his way through Birmingham’s defense to slot home Arsenal’s much needed winner.

that russian is the worst left winger since gorden nutt
1st and Jackie Wilshere was reckless but he played, but watch fat sam, pulis weigh in with thier opinions on it as well.
Wenger should know in games like these dat Arshavin is never interested, why does Wenger keep starting him?? Rosicky or vela should have started instead of him. Wilshire missing next 3 games is a massive blow.
SOA ieSame old Arsenal/Arsene.Forever passing instead of shooting. There was one instance when the birmingham attack broke down at the gunners box.Instead of taking three/four touches an over elaboration of passes goodness knows how many were made thereby allowing the blues defenders to converge.
I won’t mention names but top clubs could have easily scored and killed off the match.
With a one goal lead it’s never enough and Birmingham could have equalised.
What then?Oh this and that. All gunner fans are tired of excuses. The failure to kill off teams could be costly.Arsenal may have escaped today but against MU/Chelsea/MC Spurs it could be a different story.
i think arshavin should be dropped for the next match
Wilshere did nice job though sent off but ths Arshavin and Diaby i hate them
who the fuk r u diaby haters.. jus accept the fak that we got da man.. good game by diaby.. arshavin loosin is touch or he jus need a rest or something.. diaby is one of the best players arsenal have.. an it seem like wen them man only have good games arsenal fans recodgnise him.. wat da hell..the mans got class an plays well so yo all quit hatin the man….
‘i wont mention names but top clubs would have scored and killed off the game’
-well sam, guess u mean top teams like man u n chelsea killed of their games today at villa park and old trafford huh?
Diaby was awesome! Why the hate?
Although we won the game and got the three points,i was not impressed with our performance, and in particular, our fire-power.They were either not shooting when they should or shooting blanks when they could. And there was no one more guilty of this than Arshavin.I was so glad when he was eventually substituted,i hope he gets benched for a few games.Young Wilshere played well, but showed his immaturity with that reckless tackle which earned him the red card.I thought Diaby also played well, despite a couple of errant passes, but overall the team was just not efficient enough to inspire confidence going forward.Nevertheless,i still remain a gunner for life.
I AM A GUNNER LIFE ANDHAVE BEEN ALL MY LIFE.However when I think of some of the teams we have had this lot may be the most talented but they cannot score goals. Somebody must tell them to cut out much of the pitty patty stuff and play tough direct football – sombody needs to tell them to shoot shoot!!! in the fifities and sixties there was an old fashioned center forward who was slow but could and did SHOOT he scored goals in a poor team. Can somebody resurrect him!!!!!!!!!!!! To say nothing about TED DRAKE who was just before my time!!!
Honestly, Arshavin is a lazy ugly midget who deserves to be dropped or released from the club…this fuckin prick’s lack of some defensive presence and passing ability is why Clichy is under even more pressure…just watch how Rosicky tracks back, and actually runs with the ball when going forward instead of lazily picking out a shit pass.
I’d imagine the only reason Arshavin hasn’t been dropped is because of that odd goal he scores (which comes after and covers up a string of disgusting performances).
Please Arsene trade this Arshavin dude to Barcelona (his dream club) with immediate effect!
You guys will never stop to amaze me!
Arshavin is perhaps tired and needs to be rested.
