Arsenal are now strolling towards a finish in the top four after a comfortable Monday night saw them win 3-0.
The Gunners welcomed a Newcastle side who were on a run of five straight defeats but they did not manage to pile the misery on the Magpies as early as many expected.
Pardew’s men had contained the hosts for some time after kick-off until Cazorla’s free-kick found Koscielny to open the scoring after 26 minutes. The Gunners had their tails up after that goal and on the stroke of half-time, Ozil acted like a goal poacher to rebound Giroud’s saved shot home and double the lead.
The home side kept the good mood going into the second half as Newcastle were kept on their toes. Gouffran did test Szczesny at the other end as Pardew’s men briefly threatened to make a comeback.
But the points belonged to Arsenal and Giroud headed an Ozil cross home to finish off the job with almost half an hour left.
The Gunners are now five points clear of fifth-placed Everton in the sudden race for fourth place.
