Report: Arsenal in ‘pole position’ to finish transfer deal
Luiz Gustavo may well be heading to Arsenal.
Bayern Munich’s want-away midfielder is keen to depart the Allianz Arena – even with two years left on his contract – in search of regular action elsewhere.
And Arsenal, along with with some of Europe’s elite, have stepped up interest in the 26-year-old as the transfer window enters its final days. But it is the Gunners who are believed to have tabled a £17.2m offer for him.
According to German news source Bild – who were first to disclose previous Arsenal deals for Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolksi – Arsenal are at the moment the club in ‘pole position’ to complete a deal for the Brazilian ace.
Claims by the newspaper suggest that talks between Bayern and Arsenal are on-going despite the fact that the player is away on international duty as Brazil gets set to take on Switzerland.
Indeed, Gustavo himself was far from shy in speaking about a potential move to the Emirates stadium during an interview in Basel today.
“I am in a delicate situation at Bayern, and this needs sorting out. I have personal and professional reasons to move,” Gustavo said
“I have heard about the Arsenal interest. It’s a big club we’re talking about here, so of course I’d like to play for them.”

actually it’s Bayern who have Luiz Gustavo who has mentioned Arsenal bids as well as Bayern confirming that Clubs from England, Germany, Spain and Russia have made bids for the player. This has made the everybody assume that Arsenal are in pole position. Due to the player, player’s agent and current club. Arsene has confirmed have made a bid but nothing has been finalized. Only when the deal has been done will Arsenal leak anything and that will be on Arsenal.com after usually his current employers have confirmed is departure. So until that has been done. Nothing is leaked or certain.
Actually, it was “Sky Sources” who leaked the bid to Sky Sports, aka, someone at Arsenal leaked the bid to the press just as they did with Suarez.

This would be a crucial signing for us,a player of good height,strength,skill and sheilding abilities to sit in front of our back four and break up opposition attacks but also with that talent to quickly get us on the front foot with a killer pass.ive watched munich this last few yrs and this fella is so underated in amongst their superstars.fingers crossed we snap him up.arteta,ramsay,rosicky etc can play in natural positions now further up the pitch.

1. To shield the nback four from opponents’ incurson.
2. It will allow Arteta to play with more flair, and this will help Arsenal to create more chances and score more goals.
