Rival Watch: City on Drogs, Ade gets baby, Reds’ bargain & more
Sometimes the threat of your opposition matters as much as your own ability.
That is why this summer, Red London has introduced a new ‘Rival Watch‘ feature to cover all major moves happening at Arsenal’s most likely title rivals for the coming season.
Here is this week’s major news:
CHELSEA
Brazilian side Santos claim they have rejected a bid of €20 million from Chelsea for 18-year-old star forward, Neymar.
Talking of Brazil, Chelsea star Deco says he wants to leave the club to return to his native Brazil. The out-of-favour midfielder says he would like to link up with Fluminense this summer.
LIVERPOOL
Liverpool have secured the services of free-agent Joe Cole on a four-year deal. The former Arsenal target has completed what is a superb deal for both club and player as Liverpool, in theory, have swapped Benayoun for Cole and also earned an additional £5 million.
But the reds may one day rule the exit of 21-year-old promising left-back Emiliano Insua whom they sold to Fiorentina on Saturday. The exit of Insua, whose only goal for Liverpool was a stunner against Arsenal in their 2-1 Carling Cup defeat at the Emirates last year, has left Liverpool in desperate need of a capable left-back.
MAN. CITY
Didier Drogba’s agent claimed earlier today that his client is in talks with Manchester City (who just can’t have enough strikers) over a £20million move, but the Premier League champions have issued a statement that their key striker is simply not for sale.
The wife of City striker and former Arsenal ace Emmanuel Adebayor gave birth to a bouncing baby girl last month.
MAN. UNITED
Sir Alex Ferguson insists that he is ‘comfortable’ with his current Man Utd squad and has hinted that he is unlikely to make any more additions.
United’s only major singing of the summer (apart from Mexican striker Hernandez) was the arrival of defender Chris Smalling whom they snatched from Arsenal’s grasp during negotiations with Fulham.

Roy Hodgson has a freakishly large head.
Hey, come on, be nice!…lol 😆
I personally respect that man for his calm, uncontroversial personality and what he did for Fulham.
The young Brazilian player Neymar is a really bright prospect.Glad that he rejected Chelsea’s bid. Also glad that we did not sign Joe Cole,he would have been surplus in my opinion. It appears there is no limit to City’s spending, they are truly loaded.Best wishes to Ade and family. Is Sir Alex taking a page out of Arsene Wenger’s playbook ?There is virtue in youth.
Hey Randy, just wondering if we are going to create a fantasy football here for us this season?
Also, the chat is not available any longer huh?
Cheers!
The Fantasy Football idea is terrific and I’ll get on that as soon as I get time on my hands these days.
As for the chat, that is entirely out of my control since WordPress does not allow HTML embedding which ‘chatroll’ and many other chat programs use. That said, I’ve been trying to find another chat program which is compatible with the blog’s server.
Hopefully it’ll all be alright soon! 🙂
Much appreciated, Randy! Thank for your hard work!
Heard some news about, Andy Najar (17yrs) from DC United going on trial at Arsenal once the MLS is complete. He is from Honduras (same as Wilson Palacios). The kid looks like he has some talent and is under some European clubs radar.
I just did some research on him and at just 17, he seems quite promising.
But I also found out that he’s just 5’7 tall and that concerns me because I’m getting sick and tired of these skillful midgets we are so rich of.
I personally think we need to scout more for defensive, physical talent but why not get this guy if he really IS a special talent.
Congratulations to Adebayor, from a gooner. However, I heard that his baby’s agent has already claimed that he feels he is worth far more that the two breasts currently on offer to suckle from, and rumours abound that he seeks adoption by a three-titted transsexual.
theres no need to abuse ades child .i mean just because his or her fathers a whore doesnt make him or her one .
neway news is that eduardo has left arsenal for shaktar donesk .if true its really sad .eduardo was a true gooner at heart
dude, no offence but it’s called satire. You do know the circumstances that preceded adebayor’s leaving Arsenal don’t you? The season before when adebayor said it was in everyone’s best interests that he was allowed to join ac milan? ‘Baby’s agent’, etc – don’t take things so literally, read it again – it’s satire, not bile-spewing anger.
3-nil..still too soon, but Theo looks the same player as last year. If anything, Wilshere seems to have improved and has advanced much more than, Theo has in their development process IMO.
Nice Thanks
