Ryo Miyaichi and Nicklas Bendtner set to start tonight
Ryo Miyaichi has been handed the scarce opportunity of starting an Arsenal match in today’s visit to West Bromwich Albion in the League cup.
The Japanese prospect will be joined in the eleven by forgotten man Nicklas Bendtner who will be pulling on an Arsenal shirt again for the first time in two years, despite declaring in 2011 that he would “never play for Arsenal again”.
The Dane, who only has one year left on his contract at Arsenal has been given one final chance by the club after failing to secure a move elsewhere during the summer due to disagreements over his wage demands.
But much of the excitement will belong to Miyaichi who has come a long way since a foot injury during his loan spell at Wigan sidelined him for fourth months and threatened to halt his progress.
The 20-year-old has been confirmed as a starter tonight in Arsene Wenger’s side while Nicklas Bendtner will look to benefit from Arsenal’s lack of options upfront in the absence of Olivier Giroud.
