Alexis Sanchez has expressed his thoughts on his new role as a centre-forward following an encouraging start to the season.
The Chilean international has racked up an impressive total of eight goals and six assists in all competitions which has helped Arsenal put together a run of 16 games unbeaten since the opening day defeat to Liverpool.
Arsene Wenger’s decision to play Sanchez upfront was not approved by everyone, especially after it saw new signing Lucas Perez being kept on the bench.
The 27-year-old’s form so far has proven the Arsenal manager right but Sanchez has revealed he needed tips from the internet to help embrace his new role.
“I like it as a centre forward because I can get involved in the play more,” he told the club’s official website. “I have the chance to drop deep a little bit more and that means I can link up with my team-mates more.
“[The manager] is the one who decides, he’s the one who changes things around and decides where we play. He asked me to play there so I said fine – I looked up some videos on the internet to see how I needed to adjust my movement and I’ve been adapting since then.”
