Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has suggested that one of his Villarreal teammates – who has been previously linked with the Gunners – is actually the fastest man he has played with.

The Spanish playmaker, who joined Arsenal in 2013 and then left in the summer of 2018, is the teammate of Samuel Chukwueze, a youngster who has attracted the attention of big clubs across Europe.

The Nigerian winger and Spanish prodigy Pau Torres appear to be on the radar of other clubs due to their potential and when recently asked by Marca about the duo, Cazorla admitted that his ‘friends from Arsenal’ had shown their interest in them.

“They ask me about them and think they can make the jump to the Premiership tomorrow. It’s good that great teams are interested in young players from Villarreal, but for the moment I tell them to leave them alone here.”

Indeed, Carzorla appears to be particularly impressed with the sheer pace that Chukwueze has to offer. In a recent Instagram Q&A for La Liga, the former Gunner was asked about whom he believed was the fastest player he had shared the pitch with, to which he immediately replied: “Chukwueze”.

Arsenal were chasing the signature of the Nigerian youngster some time ago, following his country’s success at the Under-17 World Cup, but the transfer move failed to materialize, as per Guardian Nigeria.

Chukwueze is currently valued at £60million by Villareal, according to the Daily Mail with a string of promising displays in Spain now raising his price.
