Senderos: ‘Loan deal would suit me perfectly’
Phillipe Senderos has again declared he is desperate for playing time elsewhere and would not mind another loan move.
Arsenal’s out-of-favor centre back has been strongly linked with a move to Celtic over the past few days and the Swiss international has reiterated his desire to leave the club in search of more action.
Wenger’s re-signing of Sol Campbell was the writing is on the wall that Senderos is likely to be sold.
And the 24-year-old is eying either a permanent exit or another loan move like the spell at AC Milan last season and is flattered by reports over a move to Scotland.
“At this moment, I am still an Arsenal player and so they will have the final decision,” he said. “I am honoured that a big club like Celtic are interested in me and, personally, a loan deal right now would suit me perfectly.”
Senderos – whose contract expires this summer – has expressed his aspirations of playing in the World Cup this summer and stresses that the two appearances he has to his name this season will not help those dreams.
“My main priority is to get back to playing regularly; I really miss that,” Senderos said.
“The World Cup this summer is a really big thing for me. I know that, if I’m not playing regular football, my chances of playing in South Africa will be badly affected. It would be my second World Cup and I want to make sure I get the best possible build-up to it.”
“Unfortunately, I haven’t played a lot recently and that’s why I have to leave Arsenal. But the decision remains in the club’s hands so I will have to see what happens. I hope that something will be in place over the next few days, but I’ll wait and see.”
Senderos is already doing research over the prospect of becoming a Celtic player and revealed he has spoken to former Switzerland centre-back Ramon Vega – who once had a stint at Celtic – about the atmosphere at the Glasgow club.
“I spoke with Ramon about his time in Scotland and he really enjoyed it,” he revealed. “He had a successful time there and was very positive about the club and the city.
“It’s certainly nice to be linked with a move to Celtic, but, at this moment, I don’t know where I’ll be going. There are a few clubs interested and I will study everything before making a decision.”
best wishes and good luck too you phillipe, its time for you too test the waters elsewhere
Ditto. He tried and was tried, but just wasn’t going to make the grade at Arsenal,so it’s best for him to move on.
A true professional who is willing to fight for a place in Wenger’s line-up but alas fail . All the best to you (Senderos) in your future undertaking.
Sell him take the 5 Mil and put that towards someone else.
I don’t see anyone else coming in during the window. We have reserves who deserve a call up and should be playing.
if we dont sign a striker i seriously doubt us winning the title or the champions leage……….the death crunch run is going to start soon and it will be very difficult to win those games without a good cf.
