Arsenal have confirmed Philippe Senderos’ move to AC Milan as a season-long loan which many are aware of. The 23 year-old underwent a medical in Italy on Tuesday before the deal was later completed.

But other sources claim Senderos has doubled his Arsenal wage and will earn around £2.5million a year in Italy on an unguaranteed but very possible four-year deal with the club.

Arsenal are to earn £5.2million but what makes it a “loan deal” is the option to buy him back next summer for a fraction of that fee. With all said, it is very likely he has already said goodbye to North London.

Arsène Wenger was happy to see the Swiss International leave on temporary basis for the current situation due to what he feels is a rich number of defenders in the squad.

“He was not disappointing,” said Wenger. “Don’t forget Senderos is 23 years-old – that is when other central defenders just start to play.

“The thinking is that he does not get games here and this way he gets top-level games somewhere. We have Kolo, Gallas, Djourou, Song and now Silvestre. We have congestion in there and we want him to play without losing him.”

When asked if the12-month loan would turn into a permanent deal, Wenger answered: “It is not decided yet,”

He has made 115 appearances for Arsenal, scoring four goals as a defender.
