‘He shouldn’t be playing for this club!’ – Fans bash Arsenal star after Saturday’s result against Chelsea
Some Arsenal fans have expressed their frustration towards the club captain after Saturday’s defeat to Chelsea in a pre-season friendly.
The Gunners faced Anotnio Conte’s side for the first time since that famous 2-1 victory in the FA Cup final at Wembley two months ago.
But the result was much different this time as the Blues won 3-0 courtesy of goals from Willian and Michy Batshuayi who bagged a brace.
It is was the toughest test for Wenger’s men in pre-season so far and the defeat, despite being meaningless on paper, did not sit too well with most fans.
Per Mertesacker, who has been preparing for his final season as a footballer, was in action on Saturday and it appears his performance did not impress most Gooners.
