Sky sports pundit Graeme Souness has explained why he believes Arsenal cannot be considered as entirely superior to their north London rivals.
The Gunners have failed to win the Premier League for more than a decade but to many, they have maintained a reputation of being a level above Tottenham
Mauricio Pochetino’s men came very close to turning the tide in north London last season by remaining ahead of Arsenal on the table for much of the campaign before a collapse on the final day saw them lose 5-1 to Newcastle and finish behind Arsene Wenger’s men yet again.
Spurs have threatened to go a step better and finally finish above Arsenal this season after another bright start.
And when asked about which club currently has the better squad, Souness went against Thierry Henry’s opinion that it is Arsenal.
“I disagree with Thierry. I think it’s close, both goalkeepers are top goalkeepers.” he said
“Tottenham have a better back four. It’s debatable who is better going forward from that.
“But Tottenham’s age group, and the mix they have, can only get better. I still see them as a really big threat to winning the league this year.”
