The Gunners appear to have the upper-hand in the pursuit of another young and promising talent from France, according to a report by Sky Sports on Saturday.

Unai Emery will be under some pressure to do all he can to help the club recover from a three-year slump, which has seen them fail to compete in the Champions League ever since their exit at the hands of Bayern Munich in spring 2017.

Due to the exit of players like Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck this summer, the Arsenal boss will have a shortage of goals to deal with next season, unless he chooses to sign new goalscorers to fill in the gap.

Thus, the Gunners appear to be chasing youngster Alexis Claude-Maurice and according to Sky Sports, the forward is indeed interested in joining Arsenal.

The report states that Unai Emery’s side have been encouraged by the fact that the 21-year-old wants to move to the Emirates stadium, according to a source close to the player.

The Gunners are also claimed to be competing with the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach, RB Leipzig, Lyon, Lille, Monaco, Marseille, Sevilla, Brighton, Newcastle United, and West Ham for the services of Claude-Maurice.
