Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague has claimed that the Gunners have been involved in an attempt to lure one of Barcelona’s young attacking players.
After replacing Arsene Wenger at the Emirates stadium in May this year, Unai Emery faced the task of filling a lot of gaps in the Gunners’ squad.
That saw several reports link Arsenal with a deal to sign Ousmane Dembélé from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.
And according to Guillem Balague, the Gunners made a loan-to-buy offer to sign the reported Liverpool target even though Barcelona are reluctant to do business.
“The only approach from Arsenal was to get him on loan, with an option to buy. That was an intermediate, not directly from Arsenal.” said Guillem Balague
“And again, Barcelona did not listen to it. Barcelona don’t want to let him go in January either. They believe that they can get something out of him.
“They think he has the potential to make a difference like he did at the start of the season.”
