Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has revealed the moves which Arsene Wenger is currently working on before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.

The Arsenal manager secured the services of Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer and Alexande Lacazette from Olympique Lyonnais before the beginning of the new campaign.

But last Friday’s nervy clash with Leicester City, which exposed some of the Gunners’ shortcomings, has increased calls for at least one more new addition to strengthen the squad.

Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez but a transfer deal for neither of the duo appears likely to happen at the moment.

And reporting on Wenger’s next moves, Sheth claimed that the Gunners boss is now discussing the possible departures of fringe players like Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy.

“The priority at the Emirates is to trim the squad before making any more signings.” the Sky journalist said

“Arsenal are listening to offers for Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy.

“[And] talks are continuing with Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain over their futures.

“Both have a year left on their Arsenal contracts.”
