I feel really bad saying it, I have his name on my shirt… but Clichy has not been on his game as much as he should/could be… I really hope he gets back to his best.
I know there are worse players in the squad, but we are looking for “over rated” and I don’t think Almunia et is rated highly enough to include… Clichy is a big name with a well earned reputation, that hasn’t delivered of late… admittedly getting better towards the end of the season, but lets face it… who didn’t nearly vomit when nani left him for dust?… Just my oppinion… Hope he kicks ass the coming season.

For those naming Silvestre and co, those players were never really rated by anyone, so they are by no means overRATED.
There is a difference between sh*t players and overrated players. Sh*t players are ones we all know are sh*t while overrated players are rated highly by people but aren’t really as good as they think.

For those voting Vela shame on you the boy is a class it Wenger who should trust him and let him play, These happened to quite many players etc Bentley and others who simply not trained properly like Senderos. No doubt at all it has to be Walcott. He has lost all confidence in his ability and does the minimum required.
There are quite a few to be honest but Diaby closely followed by Denilson for me. Diaby is a better player than Denilson but I went to so many games last year and saw Diaby put in crap performances, only to watch MOTD and here them talk about the good game he had.
Without any doubt for me it’s the one Theo Walcott! Great athlete, but a lousy footballer.
I definitely feel Denilson by far is the most overrated player last season. For example when Arsenal played Man Utd, Denilson gave away a stupid ball but rather than help to track back and win the ball, Lazy Den just couldn’t be bothered and Man U scored!

Whether you agree or not, I’ve always thought Cesc is SLIGHTLY overrated.
Until last season when he scored 19 goals, you could not categorize him with the Lampards and Gerrards.
I agree that until this past season I never thought Cesc was world class. He always seemed to be a bit more potential than quality. Of course he was only in late teens and early twenties so that is no slight to him. However last season he started changing that ratio and I have no doubt that anyone will be able to deny his class anymore.
How can people nominate Sagna?

Some idiots are mentioning silly-vester ; perhaps they are the same fool “rated him” last season. Diaby and Denilson received nothing but abused from fans, and again i don’t know why they are mentioned as overrated.

How can players like Denilson be overrated, they’ve never been rated at all by anyone.
Walcott and Arshavin are the only players we have that have been highly rated and failed to deliver. The rest came from obscurity and either shone or flopped, but they were never rated.
Arshavin – he wouldn’t be if he came to play more than a few games a year, but that is what he does…
It has to be Xavi, I know he isn’t playing for us yet but he clearly has Arsenal in his DNA, I mean look at the papers he can’t stop talking about us and Cesc. I think he will be overrated when playing for us.

That’s easy. It’s Clichy. Everyone rates him one of the best Arsenal players and it will make people here cringe exactly because they rate him. He is overrated because not only is he the worst first choice left back we’ve had as long as I remember at defending, he ain’t that good going forward either – one deflected goal in a defeat at Stoke all these years. In fact he’s scored more at the wrong end. I will admit he’s damn good at one thing – interceptions, but that’s not enough for his inflated rating among fans.
Those of you that state Sagna – no one’s every made a big deal about him, he’s a decent defender, not great, but consistent, Walcott – always been question marks, only overrated by himself (ditto Bendtner), and no one’s every rated Denilson that highly and everyone’s had issues about the likes of Diaby and Silvestre.
we only have 3 highly rated players Cesc, Arshavin and RVP they are all superb but they can’t win titles alone.
I can’t understand the players who are being named as overated as none of them are.
For example: Theo, Diaby, Bendtner, Denilson. Who said they are great or rated highly? What they are is good players who Wenger is showing faith in and so a lot of fans have high expectations in them. I am sure we will see just how good they are going to be very soon.
Players such as Sagna, Clichy and Nasri are rated by some and rightly so. Before you question Nasri’s exclusion from the France squad look at Karim Benzima. Just because you or your team have an unsuccessful season ie: Real Madrid or Arsenal does not make you a bad player (Ronaldo anyone). Both Madrid and the Gunners have struggled and are yet to get it right but its just a matter of time before they do.
As for Sylvestre why mention him, he’s just a stop gap who no one rates and probably a mistake by Wenger which hopefully he puts right.
You guys are funny! The true answer no one wants to tell is that they are still rating him highly and the one and only most rate person is SONG.

Id say Denilson is overrated as he is seen as competition in midfield for Nasri,Song,Diaby an he isnt close.

I think most of you are missing the point. Overrated applies to chumps like Gerrard and Rooney. The world thinks they’re amazing but they’re actually worse than shit.

These players aren’t overrated, they’re just shit and everybody knows it. You could rate RVP as overrated due to his inability to play for more than 2 months in a row. But when he’s back he’s excellent so that wouldn’t be fair. Arshavin defintely would fall into this category. World Class but can’t play for shit in the Arsenal squad.

For those who underatted Diaby here ,did you see him today for France. He was brilliant for me at least he was one of the few men of the match.
My dad just watched the France match today and the first thing he said afterwards was: “some guy called ‘Diaby’ was brilliant…who is he?” I was stunned that such a stranger to Diaby’s performances knew how good he was while most of the typical Arsenal fans of the trophyless era are yet to.
Sure, Abou misplaced passes in the 2nd half but you won’t have to be told of his ability once he turns with the ball.
Eduardo this season, he still needs to come back to his form from before ‘the injury’.
Sagna and Wallcot to my mind are overrated….
