The XI: Arsenal vs Man. City
Welcome to the ‘The XI’ where you name your starting line-up of preference for an upcoming Arsenal match based on the team status from injuries to suspensions.
Team Status:
Alex Song, rated 50:50 to make the match, is the only one off an injury list of Arshavin, Denilson, Gallas, Djourou, Song, Fabregas, Ramsey and Gibbs.
Preferred line-up:
Conditions:
The back-line is surely more solid with Song while playing Fabianski again will be a gamble knowing the capability of Man. City. That said, if this is indeed one of those season sign-off games, then Mannone does deserve another opportunity – especially in the midst of our goal-keeping uncertainties.
Mannone
Cambpell Song
Sagna Eastmond Clichy
Nasri Diaby
Walcott Rosicky
RVP
I agree your line-up apart from Eastmond.
That boy seems too lightweight to be a defensive midfielder (only Flamini can). It was not only Silvestre’s presence at the back which made us look weak defensively on Sunday.
Centre-backs need protection from the CDM and since Diaby is never that or doesn’t care to play that role, the job was left to Eastmond who seemed naive and often uninvolved. He looked more like a guy observing on his debut despite occasionally making some good blocks but it takes a lot to play as a CDM and a lightweight youngster with little aggression, stamina and experience should not be risked there.
Obviously not ideal but on balance what would be better? I just can’t handle the idea of Silvestre again.
For the third time some one please tell me what to do, My fields as marked are aalways filled REPLY REPLY/
I think the line up is he best we can do. Just pray for a miracle, and hope in the first 5 minutes Ade……………
Ah well you know what I mean some do a Shawcross. Lawrence J Beadle
While we may no longer be playing for any silverware with only three games left…this is not a meaningless game…after being beaten twice already by 2 embarrasing scorelines this season (not to mention those dirty kicks to van Persie and Fabregas) we have everything to play for. Just because we aren’t playing for silverware doesn’t mean that we aren’t playing for anything. We are playing for pride, we are playing for that crest over our hearts. With a win we’ll have improved our point total to better than last years and we’ll bring and end to a disappointing winless streak. Let’s field a strong team and go out and play with all the spirit we have. We are The Arsenal, no one can come to our stadium and expect an easy match. Immeadiately after the the loss to Man City early in the season I went to the fixture list to find when we got to play these pretenders from Manchester again. I couldn’t wait for this day and I could care less whether we were playing for the title or to avoid relegation, whenever the team steps out onto the immaculate pitch of our North London Cathedral we will be playing for only one thing: victory, revenge.
Mannone
Sagna – Campbell – Silvestre – Clichy
Eboue – Nasri – Diaby – Rosicky
Bendtner – v. Persie
not to a pain in the arse, but you named two things!
victory (1), revenge (2).
maybe combine them: victenge. or revenctory.
haha…I thought about that as I typed it but I figured no one would call me out on it so I could get away with it…oh well lol
I guess in my mind they were different words for the same thing
I WAS ANALYSING THE WAY INTER PLAYED AGAINTS BARCA…AND I THINK WE SHOULD ADOPT A FORMATION SOMETHING LIKE THEM…4-2-1-3..
MANNONE
CLICHY
CAMBELL
SILVESTRE/SONG
SAGNA
DENILSON/SONG
DIABY
NASRI
LEFT-THEO/EBOUE
RVP
RIGHT-ROSICKY
THIS WAY WE PROBABLY WONT CONCEDE AND WONT BE TOO ATTACKING SO AS TO CONCEDE .IF IF WE DO CONCEDE THEN WE CAN CHANGE TO THE 4-1-2-2-1 FORMATION..
…WE SHOULDNT IF WE WANT TO WIN THIS GAME…..UP THE GUNS
Let us be honest, Silvestre will be playing.
Fabianski will also start.
Mannone, Sagna, Silvestre, Campbell, Clichy, Diaby, Song, Rosicky, Nasri , Van Persie, Bendtner 4-3-3 i wonder when denilson coming back he has a groin injury properly out for season because he has had lots of injurys this season we should get chamakh, David Villa Hangaland
would love to see mannone start wont happen trust me………flappy is going to play! keep the 2 oldies and cb and put in song! RANDY…pretty weird analysis of eastmond he played his heart out!

I’ve come to realize that over this season my idea of the lineup is never correct. Wegner is to predictable and he has his favorites that he will play aka Denilson. But I think he will play Song in the back to help out with Ady.
I reckon you’re going to see Sol take a crack at Ady. I wouldn’t mind seeing him take a cheap shot at him, I know it’s not our way of play but I see this like a bean ball in baseball. You don’t take a cheap shot like he did at RVP and the club and get away with it. We need an inforcer and someone to come in hard on Ady ASAP to let him know were not messing around.
ah, n0t to be the bad news barer, but seems song will not play against citeh.
i agree, esstmond looked pretty decent last week – prolly only one who did – but he will have his lunch eaten against city.
being realistic, a draw will be an effing miracle with the squad we have now.
I’m willing to bet that if Arsene wanted a win more than the others this year – this would be the game…
1. To help his “youth” movement and show the board that they don’t need millions of pounds to form a good team.
2. To prove that we don’t need Ady or Toure
3. To give this team some backbone
4. To lock up a CL spot and get some reserves some PT at the end of the season.
God I hate Ady, I really hope that Sol or someone gives him a good welcome to the pitch.
No Denilson, No Song, NO AA, NO ALMUNIA…come on…
So you’re telling me the back four will consist of Fab, Silv and Sol to potentially stop Teves and Ady?
OMG I hate to say this but it’s going to be ugly, real, real Ugly. The only thing we have going for us is the fact Cities defense sucks. Let’s hope that RVP, B52 and Theo can put 5 in the back of the net.
Sagna—–Campbell——–Cruise——- Clichy
Eboue—- Song—– Walcott
Sagna—–Campbell——–Cruise——- Clichy
Eboue—- Song—– Walcott
Bendtner—-Eduardo/Nasri
RVP
I think Eboue and Song will provide plenty of cover for the Cbs as well as Eboue’s runs at the Citeh defense. I hope Wenger will play Walcott if for no reason other than to keep the Citeh FB under pressure. I am hoping Eduardo can find some form for this game. Rosicky is just too lightweight for this bruising encounter. Physicality will play a big part of who keeps possession. I hope RVP gets some revenge on Adecrapdoor for his rake on RVP’s face in the earlier game. I am sure Bendtner will have no problem helping RVP with that mission . . .
Scott- wow don’t know where to begin..
1. Cruise will not play. I would think DG would get a run out before him. Look for Cruise in the last match when we know where we stand.
2. Song is most likely not playing.
3. Dudu will not play when we have RVP and B52 along with Nasri, Theo and Vella available.
I do agree that I hope B52 and RVP take it to Ady. Would be funny to see B52 celebrate with RVP with a fake headbutt.
sadly, i’m with USA. song i bet doesn’t play. i’ve seen nothing saying he will.
and again, correct, sol and silvestr at cb is going to be a bloodbath.
tevez, greedy, and co. will run right at silvestre. he tries, lord knows he tries. but he’s no match for them. lets see rvp and pinkish both to a brace. and maybe a sloppy one for theo.
5-4 to the gunners!
Let Wenger not repeat the same experiments he has been using, for this has led the club to be ruled out of the race this season.
Man City is Just like any team & arsenal is capable of standing them at cost.
Have a strong heart all the time when you want to win.
i think silvestre really played played again shitty except 4 those few times he slipped .quiet day for fabianski .boy the game was actually boring
