Team Status:
Members of the first-team who are certain to be available for the pre-season opener on Saturday are; Manuel Almunia, Lukasz Fabianski, Thomas Vermaelen, Tomas Rosicky, Samir Nasri, Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere, Johan Djourou, Andrey Arshavin, Marouane Chamakh, Laurent Koscielny, Armand Traore, Eduardo and Kieran Gibbs.
Sagna, Clichy, Song, Diaby, Fabregas, Eboue, Bendtner, Vela and Van Persie are all taking short holidays after their World Cup participation.
Preferred line-up (first-team turn):
Conditions:
No-one’s participation is guaranteed on Saturday. However it is expected that the Arsenal squad will consist of younger players and some of the senior stars who have already started pre-season training.
Players like Djourou, Gibbs (who were out of action for most of last season), Chamakh and if possible, Koscielny have to be seen in action.
Nasri can be tried in the Fabregas role, while Walcott can be tested in a more central position upfront in a check of the 4-4-2 formation.

eduardo is a f@k up – he needs to go!! – already got a slight injury – he is a waste of money – we could bring – in Eljero Elia to fill his position & don the number 9 – he has a great future ahead of him. eduardo has never been. wenger needs to act fast. We need a title – EPL or UCL. past five heres has been masturbation without the pay-off!!

i expect a younger side to start and most of the big guns to be introduced second half.
I’d be very surprised to see Walcott start as a striker.
Looking forward to seeing the new boys in action should they feature of course.

Yeah, I would be even surprised if the line-up above is half right. But stranger changes have been made in pre-season.
Even Senderos played as a DM during a game in Austia last year.
And honestly, we never really risk our first-choices on Barnet’s tiny pitch, but it’s where most of our summer signings have made their debuts over the past decade.
And yep, I agree with Arsenal fan.
Many of the youngsters will be included with a mix of experience.
We will probably see a stronger side for the Emirates cup.

I think that is a great shout having Walcott up top. He is supposed to end up there at some point pre-season is a perfect time to try him out in that role especially with a target man like Chamakh alongside him. I’d be surprised to see Nasri, Arshavin, and Rosicky start tho. More realistically it will be Wilshire and some reserve players.
Would like to more of the youngsters in for this one. I shall watch Jack Wishere closely! No doubt Wenger will make changes a the game proceeds.
I think if Wilshere has played so many games in th Prem League with rough and tumble Bolton and the Manager wants him back,then he is ready for us even if he regularly comes off the bench

Djourou at fullback? I’d like to Koscielny and Chamakh. I think Wallcot could be lethal through the middle (especially against barnet)

1. Can’t believe Almunia is still there.
2. I don’t care about the lineup. I think there should be a mix of young and old. No need to play Theo, TR7, Dudu or Arshavin..keep them as fresh as can be and play the youngsters.
