Arsenal’s first new signing of the summer transfer window has spoken about his move to the Emirates stadium with the start of pre-season right around the corner.

Unai Emery, like his predecessor Arsene Wenger, has shown that he has an eye for young talent, after signing Matteo Guendouzi last term before handing him a staggering 48 appearances for the first team.

Looking to follow the French teenagers’ footsteps will be new signing Gabriel Martinelli, who completed his move to north London from Brazilian side Ituano this week.

The 18-year-old attacker has arrived at the club at almost the same age as Guendouzi, and Martinelli is set to be included in the Gunners first team squad for the upcoming pre-season tour.

The Brazilian forward has spoken about his move to Arsenal, a club who are frankly in desperate need of quality attacking midfielders or wingers at the moment.

According to Martinelli, it really is a dream come true to have joined the Gunners this summer.

“I model my game on Cristiano Ronaldo,” Martinelli said (BBC)

“He is a player who works hard, pushing himself to the next level. Always in the run for titles and individual trophies.

“This is a dream since I was a child and also my family’s dream for me to be playing in Europe and playing for a big team like Arsenal. I am going to take this opportunity.”

“It was an amazing feeling, a dream come true, being able to be beside great players,” he said of that experience.

“It is a great opportunity to learn and I enjoyed it as much as I could.”
