This is what Alex Song has become
Below is a compilation of the quality Alex Song has shown over the past 12 months to become a key Arsenal player whom we now dread the absence of – as he heads off for African Cup of nations duty.

besides a good dm , he oso become more creative in his play, look at his final pass.u will c it
hes a massively under rated player. he deserves more praise than what he gets. at least this way, barcelona will fuck off and leave him be!
Great
Fabre – song has always been quite creative in his play. He’s actually a decent playmaker really. The thing I remember more about his time at charlton was that his passing range was excellent and he looked quite skillful rather than his tackling.
You’re absolutely spot on man. I guess me and you were one of the few who watched him week-in week-out during his loan spell at Charlton in 2006/07.
He looked nothing defensive. Song was always the guy with the classy creative touch in that team and often released killer passes/assists for Darren Bent.
So it surprised me when I saw him with Cameroon 2 years ago in the 2008 African Cup of Nations and he looked like Essien/Makelele.
That’s when I realized he could be our rock in the DM role but Flamini was impressing that time of course while we had Gilberto and Diarra available.
He impressed as a centre-back later in that 07/08 season and for whatever reason, Wenger rather chose to play Denilson as his first choice DM in early 2008/09.
But by and by now, we’ve all realized what Song can do.
Probably our best/most consistent player of the calendar year and although he gets a lot of praise during televised games, he’s still very underrated in the media in general. I put a lot of that down to the fact that he’s already married with two kids because that brings huge responsibility to a man of his age and in turn has made him more mature as a footballer. Maybe if young English players took their football and life in general more seriously, then we might see a lot more of them coming through in the ‘big’ clubs. Wenger and the red-nose Scotsman have always said players should settle down as quickly as possible. .
A sensational player he has become. He has def stepped up for Arsenal FC this year! We don’t need to replace him he is only getting better and better every game. He will be missed when he is off to ACN!
i cant even disagree…song is the essien of arsenal….without essien chelsea arent doin that well ,but im sure we can cope without song coz diaby shall fill that role…and hes a good player …hes reallu important to us….
Personally, feel he is under rated. I also feel he is much better a player than Flamini. His positioning is much better and stay in his position to become a rock in front of the defence. With him, I found his give confidence to the defence and Arsenal get exposed lesser. His header also is better than flamini. Hope he will improved even more!!!
i hope he come back with no injuries
Massively massively over rated just like Gilberto was. Water carriers and nothing players both of them.
And to the guy that says he is under-rated take your Gooner glasses off will you. And as for better than Flamini don’t make me laugh and even he weren’t that good. I know its hard times for you guys but I cannot tell you how amusing it is to see you lot raving over a guy that isn’t fit to lace Vieras boots. Whats happened to you lot?
Just seen someone compare him to Essien. Im off as you lot are absolutley crackers and deluded to a level I have never witnessed before.
Typical twat 🙂
So thats your response to someone who doesn’t agree with everything said in your article? How old are you like 10? There is certainly a twat here but it aint me ‘Randy’. Still expalins why this site is crap and like a ghost town.
Dan the man…nob off.
Dan d man u’re just being jelouse just wait n see what he is going 2 become
some people here hate him and some like him…he is not as good as essien but his progress is not going to stop….
Song has become a world class dm. He got a lot of criticism from Arsenal fans but i’ve always rated him highly. He was very impressive in last ANC; He made the ‘team of the tournament’. He has improved immensely from then and i worry about our defensive capabilities without him. In my opinion he has become Arsenal’s most important player, after Fab of course, because there is no obvious replacement for him. Neither Denilson nor Diaby are natural dm’s. Hopefully between them they can do a job until Song returns.
How does a man improve so much in one season. Like how C.Ronaldo and Drogba had nuclear explosion in form after the last world cup. Song pretty much did it too.
Fast becoming one of the best defensive midfielders in the world
Awareness, composure and balance in abundance. fast becoming a top class DM. And hes quietly going about his business. Hope hes a gooner for many years to come
