http://www.worldsoccer.com/wp-content/gallery/march-12th/podolski-grabs-coach.jpgAs it was last week on Red London, the progress of supposedly Arsenal-bound striker Lukas Podolski in the Bundesliga will be staged under the microscope for the rest for the season.

After netting a sublime equalizer the week before, Podolski followed up his goal against Hoffenhaim with a sending off against Hertha Berlin on Sunday as Cologne managed to win 1-0 with nine men.

Indeed, the 26-year-old was slightly unlucky to be dismissed after television replays of his tussle with Hertha defender Levan Kobiashvili backed up his post-match insistence that he was merely trying to pull himself away from the Georgian international.

Referee Guido Winkmann sent both players off with Podolski receiving a straight red.

But despite disrespectfully grabbing his boss Stale Solbakken by the neck while narrating his defense of the case, Lukas Podolski is not a hot-headed, dirty player because that was in fact the first ever sending off of his long career.

A red card carries an automatic one-match ban in the Bundesliga, but Cologne are hoping to have Podolski back for Sunday’s game against Hanover after appealing to the German Football Federation.

Here is a footage of the incident.
