UEFA hands Arsenal player award after Thursday’s match
UEFA handed one of Arsenal’s players the award of the week after Thursday night’s fixtures in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Arsene Wenger’s men have improved their form over the past month after a terrible run which saw them fall behind their rivals in the Premier League table.
With a place in the top four of the league unlikely to be secured, the Gunners have been resting their hopes on winning the Europa League to book an automatic spot in the Champions League next term.
Thus, Arsenal did well to draw 2-2 with CSKA Moscow yesterday and win 6-3 on aggregate in the quarter-final tie.
It was a game which saw Mohamed Elneny produce an impressive display as he set up Danny Welbeck’s vital goal in the dying moments of the second half.
And after that performance, the Egyptian midfielder was named the ‘Player of the week’ in the Europa League on Friday…
We have a winner! ?
