Arsenal manager Unai Emery has been urged by Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson to secure the signing of one of Real Madrid’s star attackers.

Emery will looking to add to his squad this summer with his team set to say goodbye to a number of players who are no longer being given much playing time at the club.

Mesut Ozil is one of the players who could be ditched by the Gunners after a season which has seen him fail to cement a regular spot in the starting eleven of the new manager.

Should the former Real Madrid star be allowed to leave the Emirates stadium this summer, Arsenal will have to make a big signing to replace the 30-year-old.

As a result, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has suggested that the club should pursue the signing of Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer.

“I think Hazard is going to Real Madrid. He would have signed a new contract by now otherwise.” Merson was quoted as saying.

“But Bale would not be a bad replacement, would he?

“I think he suits Arsenal down to the ground as well. If they could get him in and get Mesut Ozil out they’ve had a big result.”

Bale has rarely been linked with a move to Arsenal, largely due to his connections with local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, whom he represented between 2007 and 2013.
