Vermaelen may miss rest of season
Thomas Vermaelen is facing a maximum of three weeks on the sidelines.
Under no pressure in his own half, Arsenal’s centre-back booted the ball out of play, went down on his knees and called for the physio after just 18 minutes of Wednesday’s match.
Vermalen – who had only missed one league game this season – looked to have suffered a severe injury and his immediate replacement Mikael Silvestre is now likely to deputize for the remainder of the season.
Arsene Wenger revealed the 24-year-old will be out for more than a fortnight after sustaining an injury similar to the one which saw William Gallas hobble off against Barcelona just two weeks ago.
“Certainly it is a calf strain (that he suffered). He will miss two to three weeks.” Wenger said.
With less than a month and just four games left in the campaign, Vermaelen is unlikely to be risked should he recover.
Oh Shit!
Lol oh shit that made me chuckle.
Get well soon, Vermaelen.
UNLESS WE WITNESS A MIRACLE ALL OF US CAN NOW SAY AS WE HAVE BEEN DOING 4 SO LONG “SAME OLD ARSENAL”(THOUGH I HAVENT GIVEN UP ON THE MIRACLE ….YET)
Someone should tell Arsene Wenger to get rid of silvestre and buy a strong center back plus a good keeper.
The Veminator has been an awesome signing. A good example of Arsenes buying prowess. I expect some more in the summer.
Let’s be realistic, The Arsenal is a good squad but lack championship materials.
wenger will hopefully call bartley back from sheff u. if i see silvestre disgrace the arsenal shirt one more time i will start the bring back stepanovs and cygan campain he makes them look world class.
Agree, kidz! This team is special. Never over spend but always are on top of the league and go far in the CL. We need one more thing to make it all the way up! I still love my team as much as this loss hurts. meh.
Go Arsenal!
haha thanks Randy…
Anyone interested in the World Cup?
Hey USA Gunner, happy belated birthday.
…and it finally took 11 years for Spuds to beat The Arsenal…
hahaha. Man, Randy, is MIA today!
Kidz, I feel exhausted from this season (haha). And to think I thank God I don’t support Spurs or NE Revolution. I’d have a heart attack by now. 4 more games let’s try to shoot for 2nd but that’s going to be tough.
Raaaandy! Dude, imagine..just imagine if Chelsea and ManU lost this weekend and we got the win against Wigan. Just think about it for a min. I mean, I’m not delusional, but look what Pompey and Spurscum did! I agree, that the statistics say we were the better team, but some players did lack desire out there. I some really bad passes out there. We played ok but not good enough to be this pathetic team. We had them by the throat when RVP came on. That guy is class and really disappointed he was out for almost the whole season. I can only wonder what might’ve happened had he stayed injury free.
