Arsenal’s latest man to go down is Thomas Vermaelen who hobbled off after the half-hour mark in the 0-0 draw at Villa Park.

The Belgian was replaced by Sol Campbell with a leg injury which is suspected to be severe.

Arsene Wenger revealed his ever-present defender was in bad condition as the Gunners prepared for their trip back to London and is set for a major diagnosis in the next few days.

“Thomas Vermaelen we don’t know, there will be an x-ray. He is on crutches and it is a fibula injury. We have to check tomorrow morning if it is just a nerve or a broken bone”

The manager revealed more injury woes as Eduardo – who limped off after 62 minutes – is now ruled out of the clash with Manchester United.
