Arsenal 2-0 Olympiakos
Late goals from Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin handed Arsenal a deserved victory over Olympiakos in their first home match of the Champions League’s group stage.
The Gunners, who won their opening game of Group H a fortnight ago, looked set for a frustrating evening despite dominating their clash versus the Greek champions, only for Van Persie to net a vital opener in the 78th minute.
Arsene Wenger’s side were well on top in the first half but were guilty of profligacy in front of goal as 37-year-old goalkeeper Antonios Nikopolidis kept them at bay.
But, after Wenger sent on the likes of Eduardo and Carlos Vela, Van Persie netted from close range before a cheeky flick from an unmarked Arshavin wrapped up a late victory.
excellent performance 2nite by da boys, arshavin, fabregas, rosicky, van persie all caused havoc with slick passing and movement if we could keep them fit we will win this competition, alex song though was my man of match, never missed a teammate with his passing and broke up a few counter attacks with clever little fouls, lets hope he stays fit aswell
Song’s fouls were perfect. Never enough to draw a freekick, but always just enough to break up play. Rosicky looks sharp.
a couple of things..
1. Did you guys see Cesc smiling? Jesus christ give it a break he’s happy!
2. The Em is so quiet it seems like. Whats up with that?
3. Who is Arshavin telling to be quiet????
4. Diaby is dog balls and shouldn’t play ever again…
5. Were on a roll boys!!!! A few more wins before we meet the Spuds will be just fine!!! Need a big win out of Pool this week and a big win from us and all will start to fall into place.
6. Nasri has to be getting close to coming back so that’s good!!!
UP the gunns!
nice usa gunner but u missed a point:
7. usa gunner should always leave the chat room when the game is drawn so that arsenal can score
haha lol
jokin
Song is in the making of a monster DM.Given time, he can be our own Essien. Yes! Arshavin bounce back in style by scoring a “cheeky” goal after a rather quite match against Fulham.
i 100 perceent agree with USA and NZ…song was brilliant diaby was shiteeeee……
Gosh guys…kill this hate for Diaby; thats how you got rid of Ade (one of the worlds finest strikers). the guys are all growing..they are all improving and I trust Arsene 100%
that “shhh….” thing seems like AA’s thing. i dont’ get that either. maybe b/c he knew he was offside?
who else thought ebout looked awfully good last night? (as much as it pains me to say that as sagna is my fav player.)
carlos … great point. give diaby some slack (and i got your sarcasm; well done, not easy to pull off on the internet!) he’s saved our bacon more than once in CL matches … and the prem.
For goodness sake, please STOP the Abou Diaby assassination! Wenger still know best what to do and get the best from him.
arsene is humnan guys and has made bad choices before…I think Diaby is one of them. He needs to realize that we have others than can fill his void. How else are Fran, Ramsey supposed to get into the first team if he keeps playing Diaby who hasn’t proven himself yet?
Arsene isn’t always going to be right.
