VIDEO: Van Persie falls victim to poor security
Many were so focused on Van Persie’s traumatic response to the Netherlands coach during his substitution against Slovakia that yet another security infringement at the World Cup was overlooked.
Someone targeted a green laser at the Arsenal striker (visible on his neck, left arm and face from 0:19 to 0:23 in video below) as he approached the sidelines on Monday – causing concerns over the safety of players at the tournament since this was not the first time such an incident had occurred.
Indeed, Messi, Maradona and several players were victims of the green laser spotter during the Argentina vs Nigeria clash two weeks ago.
Devices of that sort are supposed to be disallowed from stadiums and how such an item was able to be smuggled through the security checkpoints is yet to be known.
