Walcott to sign soon, Rosicky “weeks” away
By Randy Osae
Arsene Wenger has granted promising news on stricken duo and well missed flank men Theo Walcott and Tomas Rosicky.
The English youngster has been deemed likely to fancy a move elsewhere should his Arsenal contract not be renewed by the season’s closure.
But Arsene Wenger confirmed yesterday that the club is already in progressive talks of tying him down on a long-term contract – which also implies in a wage rise – and there should be an announcement soon.
Thus, Walcott’s Arsenal future should have little concerns.
“We will sort that [his contract] out,” said Wenger ahead of tonight’s trip to Everton.
“We are in negotiations. He wants to stay and we want him to stay, so we should find an agreement.”
On Rosicky, the Czech veteran has finally made some headway in his injury plagued year.
His agent claimed earlier this week that the 28-year-old had already resumed formal training with his teammates and would be involved in a number of reserves’ fixtures ahead.
To add to optimism, Wenger has also assured that Rosicky could return to business within eight weeks.
“If all goes well [he’ll be back in] eight weeks,” said the manager. “But that assumes he survives as we increase the intensity of training.
“So far Tomas has been exceptional frankly – exceptionally strong, exceptionally patient, exceptionally resilient.
“The most difficult thing in sport is when you have an injury and you try to practice very hard to come back and it doesn’t work so you have to rest and start again. That’s the most difficult thing.
“But he is a brilliant guy, Rosicky. We miss him highly.”
Looking forward to the return of key players & its great to see Rvp back strong after his long layoff. I dont think we’ll have as many sick 4 as long in future- i just wonder how fragile they might be on their return & is too much being expected of them?
I’m far from anti Nationals & heard Wenger is happy 4 Eduardo 2 gain fitness but it doesn’t sit well that we havnt seen him in an Arsenal shirt 4 a year. The same applies to Tomaz & Theo. Ithink they should b playing consistantly 4us 1st b4 any call ups.
