Arsene Wenger has confirmed that arguably Arsenal’s most important defender will not remain on the sidelines for too long.

Laurent Koscielny completed last Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Mancheter United with a calf problem which saw him miss the defeat to Swansea City on Wednesday.

Following news of Petr Cech facing up to a month out of action due to a hamstring problem, there have concerns that Arsenal may have to see out much of this season’s run-in with a depleted defense.

However, Wenger has revealed that Koscielny could be fit within seven days and back in time for the home clash with West Bromwich Albion.

“Koscielny is out.” the Arsenal boss said n Friday

“He has a small injury but he is out tomorrow and Tuesday next week. It’s a grade one, so it’s a very short period. I don’t think he’ll be available on Tuesday but next Saturday he should be alright.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky are the only other players currently ruled out by injuries.
